49ers in the HOUSE! Outdoor 1st Edition

After a fantastic end to the indoor season and a couple weeks off from competition, we are now headed into the outdoor season! The first meet of the year, 49er classic, held at our very own track starts today! As I write our heptathlon girls and decathlon guys are getting ready to take on 7 and 10 events in the next two days! I admire them greatly for being able to put themselves through that. The girls events are 110 hurdles, 200 meter dash, 800 meter run, shot put, javelin, high jump, long jump, and the 200 meter dash. I think... Not so sure on the last event, but the guys! Wow they do a lot! The run the 110 hurdles, 100 meter dash, 1500 meter run, 400 meter run, shot put, javelin, discus, long jump, high jump, pole vault. That's some pretty intense competition to be putting your body through!

The rest of the events start tomorrow. A track meet always starts out with the 110 hurdles qualification heats. Depending on the meet and how many people who move on the the semi finals and finals usually later in the day and the next day. That's how all of the running events up to the 400 meter work. Also starting out the day tomorrow are some field events. Following the decathlon pole vault will be the women's pole vault at 2:30! Women's high jump, men's long jump, men's triple jump, hammer throw, and shot will probably be tomorrow too. With the rest of the events being on Saturday.

Pray it doesn't rain tonight! A cold front with rain is supposed to be moving in, but I want sunshine and 70! Now I know I probably wont get that, but the latest I've heard is 61 which is better than the 54 I heard earlier in the week. We can always hope for a high higher than what those weather people said can't we? I have a fan club coming tomorrow so I better do good! (Or as one of my teammates would say "DO BETTER!") We are hoping for no rain, warm weather, no wind (or at least a tail), bendy poles, and flying HIGH! That's not too much to ask is it?
