Happy Easter!!
It has been way too long since I've blogged! I've missed a lot the past 2 weeks or so since I've been here, but yes I do still exist! I must say I had better meet yesterday. (Last week was a little less exciting) It keeps getting better and closer to my goal. I jumped 9'10 officially on the record, but I know I jumped higher than that. I had the height for 10' and I should have cleared 10'4 on my BIG pole! Yep I got in on it and I cleared it the first time for sure, until it fell... I don't know how it fell or how I hit it and I thought it was going to stay... (It fell after I hit the mats. I hate watching that happen) Had we not been using the extenders it might not have fallen. It was so close! Which of course put me in a bad mood. It is kinda funny sometimes how you do your best but you are still mad because well I should have done this or that. Oh and I won! Yea I won the meet, kinda sad if you ask me. Don't get me wrong I loved it, but 9'10? I expect more than that from a college meet.
Let's talk about something else shall we? Easter. I love Easter. The weather is just starting to get warm, the trees are starting to get leaves, flowers are blooming, birds are singing, chocolate eggs are in the store, and the spring colors are fantastic! I am much like Bella these days... We both have some spring fever going on. Just sitting outside on the swing is enough for me. Bella has been dying to get outside the past few days, but she has a mean mommy who doesn't let her much. However, aside from all the spring stuff that comes with Easter, I love the whole meaning of today. A day just to realize just what our faith and salvation is all about. With no death and resurrection, there would be no salvation. Without salvation we would be poor lost sinners with no Easter.
I find it annoying how good holidays get turned into something completely different. Sure I love chocolate and bunnies as much as the next person, but why Easter? Oh and don't forget the jolly old man and the virgin birth. Seriously, who comes up with these things? It is sad that some people get so caught up in the "holiday" of it and forget about the true meaning. I encourage you to go read the death and resurrection of Jesus in the Gospels today. I'm serious.
Can you imagine the amount of love one must have to give their life for another? That is an amazing love! Would you die for someone? More than that would you die for someone who wants nothing to do with you? There is the catch. Jesus didn't just die for those who loved Him, He died for all of us including the people who defame His holy name and laugh at the possibility of God in the flesh. I find that beyond amazing. I couldn't do it and neither could you, because we don't possess that kind of love naturally. It is only through Him that we even glimpse what that love is like.
Sometimes I think we have a very shallow definition of love. What is your definition of love? I don't believe butterflies and sweet smiles are love at all. They might be a component of love yes, but loving someone takes more than that.Love is hard, painful and will drag you through the dirt sometimes, but at the end of the day there is still something or someone worth living for. Someone who has seen you at your very worst, but they still think that you are the most special person in the world and wants nothing but the best for you. Love is death. Love is resurrection. Love is Christ.
"The resurrection gives my life meaning and direction and the opportunity to start over no matter what my circumstances." ~Robert Flatt
