I have seen and interacted many different types of people in my life, but for the life of me I can't figure some of them out. Have you noticed how self centered our society has become? We are a people who want, want, want, want, want. Now nothing is wrong with wanting, if we had some self control which apparently the majority of Americans don't. Which you can blame this wonderful economic crisis on. No it's not Bush's fault and Obama can't fix it because we first need to fix the home before we can fix America.
It starts when parents want their children to have a "better" life and childhood than they had, again nothing wrong with wanting the best for your child. However, giving your child everything they want is not doing them a favor. In fact it is those children who are accustomed to having everything with no consequences or trails that are the ones who have thousands of dollars in credit card debt and can't pay it off. See those children never change. They still want everything under the sun, but instead of throwing a temper tantrum they just go out and put it on the credit card or take out loans.
Instant gratification and then by the time they even attempt to pay their debt off they already lost interest in whatever it is they wanted so badly to begin with. They were never taught the value of money or how to work hard to get what you want or to save money. So that leaves us with tons of debt, which they can't pay so guess what? Bankruptcy and it's all pawned off on good ol' Uncle Sam.
So now look where that kind of greed lands us. Right in the middle of a downward spiral. Of course the banks are to blame for that too because they could easily say "No, you have too much debt I'm not giving you another load or credit card." However, that's business. They don't care if you can't pay it, well they didn't until everyone couldn't pay and then it turned into a serious problem. A stimulus bill wont fix it either, it is just one big giant band aid for a couple years and then it will come back ten times larger.
"We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have." -Frederick Keonig
