Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Paz!!

Sorry it's a day late, but you know me.That's why you gave me the Mistress of the Obvious award of ALL TIME! I miss those, but I miss you more. I've been thinking about you a lot lately. Sometimes I wonder who you would be today and what you would be doing. But then, I already know don't I? You would have been much like you were then, I'm sure. In medical school. You told me you wanted to be a doctor and you would have made a great one. You inspired people in a way no one else could. I know from experience. You never laughed at me, well okay yes you did but that was my 'mistress of the obvious' moments not my dreams or hopes or insecurities. You helped me through times when I should have been helping you. Maybe I did, but all I know is that if this world had more people like you, we would be much better off. But I'm pretty sure God broke the mold after you. You were one of a kind and that's one of the many things I love about you. Some days all I want is to pick up the phone and call you, just to say hi, but I can't. (I send a little prayer up and tell God to say hey for me and I'm sure he does.) One day we will meet again and when we do I know you will welcome me with open arms. Until then, enjoy worshiping at the feet of Jesus (I'm sure your music brings him much joy) and I will keep you in my heart forever.

"Heather Kristin Pasley was born on October 5, 1987. She came into this world fighting and left in the same manner for a much better world on April 24, 2004 at 9:41 pm. She passed away in the most beautiful way, with her loved ones surrounding her and giving a sigh of relief during a prayer.

Heather never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone. Everyone that came in contact with her said she was a loving and genteel person, nonjudgmental and full of positive energy.

Heather made a difference for having been in this world. She packed all the wisdom of a 100 year old sage, the dry humor of the best of comedians, a well rounded knowledge of all kinds of music (her passion), ranging from classical to punk and everything in between, and all the personality, playfulness and charm that any puppy would be proud of, into only 16 years. That was Heather.

Her family, friends, and music mattered to her most. her life should be an example to all who need to see what being happy is about when nature throws those unpredictable and catastrophic curves at us. She took the best out of all the circumstances she endured. Heather found a way, even if it were small, to be positive and make the most of every day. She possessed a strength that cannot be duplicated. A pioneer for future St Jude's patients. Because of what she went through, research data and samples will be available to come close to a cure of the very rare cancer that won her life. Adrenocortical Carcinoma- remember the name of this rare cancer (even more rare for children)- it will be controllable, perhaps even curable, in the future because of Heather.

Heather went by a lot of names, but to her friends she was "Paz." Whatever you called her, she was special. Her memory and spirit will live on forever. This earth lost, but heaven is rejoicing for the new addition to its angelical world."
