DuPont Here We Come!

This weekend we are going camping with Joey and Melanie! I am so excited. I've been camping a hundred times, but no trip is ever the same. We are headed up close Brevard, actually it is DuPont National Park. There is a ton of stuff to do there. We will be hiking to see some waterfalls for sure and I hope to get to see James and Joey go down sliding rock. Other than that I'm not sure what we will end up doing, but it will be fun and dog friendly since Kodi will be with us. I have already started pulling camping stuff out of the attic and getting some food together. I will post a blog on our adventures next week.

I had to take Kodi to the vet today to get the last exam done for his therapy dog license. Now all we have to do is mail it in and he is good to go! (We hope.) It has been a long and hard road to get this done, which is crazy. It should have been so simple, it was for other people in our situation, but they made it hard on us. We have friends that just sent the paper work in and boom it was done. Not for us. Apparently the person who has the dog tested has to match the handler signature, so they sent it back and said Kodi had to be retested with a different handler. You have to pay to get the dog tested and he already passed the Canine Good Citizen and the Therapy Dog tests. We thought it was crazy. So we didn't get him retested, instead we just sent the paper work back with a little alteration on the handler. Of course it wasn't that easy. Not only do the signatures have to match, which they did this time, but you have to apply for the license within a certain length of time after the dog passed the Therapy Dog test. We were over. Lucky for us, they are working with us this time, but we have had to take Kodi to the vet twice in the past month because of certain exams that must be done and paperwork that has to be filled out by the vet. No wonder they are lacking therapy dogs! No one would normally put this much effort into it after one thing goes wrong. I am surprised we did.

Dogs are amazing creatures. I find it hard to believe that we are the ones made in God's image compared to them. I know that sounds silly, but think about it. Dogs are loyal, incredibly loving, forgiving, devoted, and will protect you from anything. A lot of qualities that God has don't you think? Now try to think of one human who does that all the time without fail like God does. I find it hard myself. We all have flaws, which is how it should be, but there is just something special about a dog. I don't know how people don't like animals, have they ever seen a puppy or kitten? They are completely irresistible! Everyone should have a loyal companion. Animals really are smarter than we give them credit for. They can read your mood better than you can and they are there for you whenever you need them to play or to comfort. Amazing.

"Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace." - Milan Kundera
