Everything Should Be Microwaveable

Okay so maybe not everything, but anything paper should be. You already know a funny story is coming don't you? Well, I thought it was funny. Although, I am finding it hard to figure out who was more stupid in this whole thing, me or Hallmark? Maybe you should be the judge.

Tonight I went to Harris Teeter next door to get my dinner. I don't think I have ever had such a hard time figuring out what I wanted. Anyways, I finally decided on hot pockets. So I take my little hot pockets back to work to relax for a few minutes and eat. Anyone who has ever had a hot pocket knows that it is very simple to fix. Take it out of the box, put it in the little hot pocket sleeve, heat up for two minutes, and eat! So simple. I didn't want to get cheese all in the microwave at work though, so I was going to put it on a napkin. As I go to grab a napkin I see there are some paper plates, even better! So in the microwave it goes and I go to the bathroom to wash my hands.

When I walked out of the bathroom I knew something had gone terribly wrong. When I opened the microwave, out poured smoke. My poor little hot pocket was surrounded by ashes! My immediate action was to try to save my food, which was pretty simple by just flipping it out of the ashes and then throwing the ashes outside. The whole time I was questioning myself "What on earth is wrong with the microwave? All it had was a paper plate and a hot pocket." I had to tell Melanie up front not to worry if she smelled smoke, it was just the microwave. I got a funny look, but she didn't ask questions since she was with a customer.

I was puzzled as I ate by saved hot pocket. It was perfectly fine, only one edge was a little burnt and that part got thrown away. Then I saw it. Very tiny letters around the edge of the paper plate... "Not microwave save." Apparently the plate contains foil. Who makes an un-microwaveable paper plate? You guessed it, Hallmark. Genius! I have never even though twice about putting a paper plate in the microwave. It's paper! Moral of this story, always think twice before putting things in the microwave that are made by Hallmark, they just might catch fire.

At least now you are a member of a club, you don't stand alone in that little ordeal anymore, hehe.
