Utter Disappointment

Word to the wise, my friends, don't ever get your heart set on something that can so easily change. That's what I did and today I got a reality check. About three years ago I found these dishes at Belk. I fell in love with them. (I honestly had my dishes picked out before I had James. I know, I'm crazy.) I knew then that the possibility of them being discontinued was high, but I admired them every time we went in. "That's what I want!" I'm sure my mom got tired of me saying it, but I loved them! Well it's been three years, so I thought they were going to be one of those timeless dishes that they kept around forever.

A day late and a dollar short is what I am. They did it. They finally discontinued the dishes I've wanted for over three years! How could they? And it's not like my wedding is that far out of sight, it has a date now! My mom has been adorable. She's called all the Belks in Charlotte asking if they have them, the one we went to today had a few pieces left on clearance, but no one does. I assumed if they got rid of my dishes it would be by Biltmore's choice, they make them, and they would put an even prettier pattern in it's place. Nope Belk isn't going to be carrying Biltmore at all! So not only do they not have my dishes, but my mom has pot's and pans by Biltmore that I love. Almost all of the bed spreads I like are also Biltmore. No one else carries them either. Biltmore had a deal with Belk, which apparently the poor economy has made at least one party pull out of. Disappointment at it's best. I cringed when I saw those pretty dishes on the clearance, just pieces. So not fair.

Back to the drawing board now. A hard one too. I don't like any of the other ones that Belk carries. Now I'm going to be picky. It was so easy to pick them out the first time! But no others live up to the expectations of those I've wanted for three years. Oh I will find some pretty ones, I know that, but three years of hype over those dishes is going to be hard to top. I've come to the conclusion that they should never discontinue dishes. Ever. It's just not right.

They discontinued our Paula Dean collection too so I went on a wild goose chase in Charlotte and 200 miles around Charlotte and I got everything we needed. It may be too late, have you tried Belk online?
