Sick Babies!

The past few days have been full of cleaning up throw up, waking up in the middle of the night with a sick child, coaxing the children to eat and drink, doctors appointments, phone with doctors, and throwing medication down throats. Yes, I feel like a real mommy now, except my children are are two feline girls.

After fretting over Tiger for several days, we are all clear. She is as healthy as a horse, ever wonder where that saying comes from? Horses can get sick too. Anyways, blood work shows everything is working just like it should, we like to hear that. She weighed 11.4 pounds, a drastic difference from her 15.8 a little over a year ago. (She's been on a diet.) The vet was going to blame a switch in her food, but when little Bella started getting sick last night, we both changed our opinions. They have just a regular GI virus. I really didn't know they had those, especially not for (mainly) indoor cats. Well Bella is indoor and Tiger will go out for 10 minutes at night for her walk around the house. Who would have though she would pick up a bug?

Tiges is pretty much over it, thankfully. They gave her some fluids and injections along with some take home medication. It didn't take long to start working, I fed her 45 minutes to an hour after her injections and she ate like a pig! I guess some things never change huh?

Bella is just now getting the worst of it. She can't keep any food down, much like Tiger 3 days ago. We gave her some of Tiger's medication hoping to get her to eat, but so far she hasn't touched her food since yesterday morning. Hopefully she will pass it normally so we don't have to make another trip to the vet, she really hates going. The vet said the main thing is to keep her hydrated, so we are making her take water every few hours. She really doesn't like that, but we want her to be a healthy kitty. If she doesn't get better in a day or so, we might have to make that dreaded trip to the vet. At least we know what to expect and what will fix her up right quick.

Poor babies!
