Actually it's not even close to being over. Sadly. I've got two exams down, which is a good thing, but I've got a final exam tonight and a huge semester project tomorrow and Tuesday. I really think this week is worse than my finals week ,which starts in a week and a half. I will be so relieved when this semester is over!
On the bright side, I think, we have our first track meet this Friday at App! Monday was my first good practice of the year! By good I don't mean I jumped a new personal best, which would have been nice, but I finally got my act together and my leg didn't go numb! Today is a jump day and I have got to finish putting things together. I finally out grew my baby pole for the first time this year just one more to go before I reach my meet pole. I'm not too worried about that, I know come Friday I will be jumping on it and the one above it.
Well here I am talking pole talk, which I must say is another language. To explain it a little, the poles have different lengths, weights, and bends. As you move up in poles they get longer and stiffer, which is a good thing. The stiffer the pole the more it throws you and well the longer it is the higher you go. So for me to say I out grew a pole just means I'm moving to a longer stiffer pole. So that's good news! The weights are a little funny. People usually think that when say I'm on a 110 pound pole that it weighs 110 pounds, but that's not the case. It means that the pole can hold 110 pounds, usually, they do break sometimes but not normally. So today I'm moving from the 110 to the 120 and possibly the longer 110 (when you go up in length you go down in weight) which I will be using Friday at the meet! My goal Friday is to jump 10 and use my 12 foot pole. That would be a nice way to open the season.
Alright, I have officially confused you reading this and for that I'm sorry, but now I'm off to study for that final tonight! Wish me luck :)
